According to the most recent study conducted by the Oregon Department of Consumer and Business Services, the State of Oregon had the seventh best (lowest) premium rates in the United States for workers’ compensation. The ranking was even an improvement from the previous year, 2014, where our state ranked ninth least expensive as the study is held every two years. The state with the most expensive workers’ compensation rates last year was California.

Workers’ compensation system reforms and improvements in workplace safety and health are cited as the leading reasons for the State of Oregon being able to lower premiums without lowering benefits. The director DCBS, Patrick Allen, cited credited Oregon employers for their commitment to keeping their workplaces safe.  Of course, some argue that workers’ compensation carriers often fight to limit the workers’ recoveries and benefits which also results in less claims and reduced benefits paid.

If you suffer a job-related injury in the State of Oregon, workers’ compensation can pay for your medical expenses and up to two-thirds of your lost wages.
