{"id":13792,"date":"2015-07-27T12:21:25","date_gmt":"2015-07-27T19:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/letusfightforyou.com\/ppc\/?p=790"},"modified":"2015-07-27T12:21:25","modified_gmt":"2015-07-27T19:21:25","slug":"hurt-on-the-job-common-mistakes-part-4","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/letusfightforyou.com\/ppc\/hurt-on-the-job-common-mistakes-part-4\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurt On The Job : Common Mistakes (Part 4)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DO\u00a0make sure you follow all the rules as laid out in your employee hand book.\u00a0 If you are not sure if you have an employee handbook, now would be a good time to ask for one.\u00a0 If your employee handbook tells you to check in after going to every doctor appointment related to your workers\u2019 compensation claim, THEN DO THAT!\u00a0Failure to do so could result in your termination and loss of critical Time Loss benefits.<\/p>\n<p>DON\u2019T assume the HIPPA rules protect your health information related to your worker\u2019s compensation from getting to your employer. \u00a0THEY DO NOT!<\/p>\n<p>DON\u2019T assume your attorney is allowed to have communication with your employer.\u00a0 There are some very strict ethical rules that all Attorneys in Oregon have to abide by when representing clients.\u00a0 Under most circumstances, your attorney is not legally allowed to contact the employer.<\/p>\n<p>DO\u00a0always\u00a0bring your updated off-work slips\u00a0to your employer immediately.\u00a0Failure to do so could result in termination.<\/p>\n<p>DON\u2019T\u00a0assume you can schedule your medical appointments during your scheduled working hours.\u00a0 Another big misconception by injured workers is the notion that due to their on-the-job injury (workers&#8217; compensation claim), their employer must accommodate any of their medical appointments during scheduled work shifts.\u00a0\u00a0This is 100% false and actually could result in your termination.\u00a0 Schedule these appointments when you are not working or at the very least communicate and get permission from your employer to attend these appointments if they are scheduled during your work shift.\u00a0 Should you need to get\u00a0permission from your employer, it is a good idea to get this in writing.\u00a0 A quick email saved to your account, should be sufficient.<\/p>\n<p>While it is your responsibility to keep your employer up to date regarding your worker\u2019s compensation claim, you do not need to allow your employer to attend your medical appointments with you.
